Blue Origin, Boeing chart course for ‘business park’ in space

Oct 25 (Reuters) – Billionaire Jeff Bezos-owned Blue Origin on Monday unveiled plans to develop a business area station referred to as “Orbital Reef” with Boeing , aiming to launch the spacecraft within the second half of this decade.

The enterprise will likely be inbuilt partnership with Sierra Area, the spaceflight wing of protection contractor Sierra Nevada Corp, and will likely be backed by Redwire Area, Genesis Engineering Options and Arizona State College.

Orbital Reef will likely be operated as a “combined use enterprise park”, and plans to offer the infrastructure wanted to scale financial exercise and open new markets in area, Blue Origin and Sierra Area stated.

“Seasoned area companies, high-tech consortia, sovereign nations with out area packages, media and journey corporations, funded entrepreneurs and sponsored inventors, and future-minded traders all have a spot on Orbital Reef,” the businesses stated in a press release.

Sierra in April introduced plans to supply the primary free-flying business area station. ()

In July, Blue Origin had a profitable debut area tourism flight, with Bezos and three others aboard. Earlier this month, 90-year-old U.S. actor William Shatner – Captain James Kirk of “Star Trek” fame – turned the oldest particular person in area aboard a rocketship flown by Blue Origin.
