BERLIN, Oct 2 (Reuters) – The top of Volkswagen’s works council needs the carmaker to convey ahead manufacturing of electrical autos at its predominant plant in Wolfsburg to 2024 make it extra aggressive, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

The Braunschweiger Zeitung quoted works council chief Daniela Cavallo as saying a worldwide chip scarcity and the COVID-19 pandemic had been decreasing output on the plant this 12 months and it wanted to make a brand new mannequin to safe its competitiveness.

“The location wants a sooner path to e-mobility,” the newspaper quoted Cavallo as saying, including this could happed in 2024.

Beneath its Trinity challenge, VW has been growing a flagship electrical sedan to be constructed at Wolfsburg from 2026.
