Italy’s Leonardo says Boeing to update 787 production plan this month

DUBAI, Oct 3 (Reuters) – The chief govt of Italian aerospace agency Leonardo mentioned Boeing was anticipated this month to launch an up to date manufacturing plan for its 787 Dreamliner wide-body jet.

“Within the subsequent day they are going to come out with a brand new plan,” Leonardo CEO Alessandro Profumo instructed Reuters on the Dubai Expo on Saturday. “They’re saying they’re ‘barely extra optimistic’, let’s say.”

Profumo didn’t say whether or not there can be a change in manufacturing charges within the new plan to be launched by Boeing. Leonardo manufactures a part of the Dreamliner airframe.

A Boeing consultant instructed Reuters the planemaker didn’t have any updates on 787 manufacturing. They didn’t say whether or not a brand new manufacturing plan would quickly be launched.

“We’re consistently analysing the worldwide aviation market, coordinating carefully with suppliers and aligning provide with demand.”

Leonardo expects Boeing to provide at a fee of 10 Dreamliners a month by the tip of 2025, Profumo mentioned, citing current recommendation from the planemaker.

Boeing was producing at a fee of 14 a month in 2019, in response to the newest out there knowledge.

The U.S. planemaker suspended Dreamliner deliveries in late Could after the Federal Aviation Administration raised issues about its proposed inspection technique.
