GM, Ford extend some production cuts due to chip shortage

WASHINGTON, Sept 30 (Reuters) – Basic Motors Co and Ford Motor Co mentioned Thursday they’ll lower extra manufacturing due to the nagging semiconductor scarcity that has hit international auto manufacturing.
GM, the most important U.S. automaker, mentioned it is going to prolong by two weeks a halt to Chevrolet Blazer sport utility car manufacturing at its Ramos plant in Mexico due to the continued chips scarcity because it resumes manufacturing at different North American crops.
GM mentioned manufacturing will resume Monday at its Lansing Grand River Meeting plant that builds the Chevrolet Camaro and the Cadillac CT4 and CT5. Cadillac manufacturing has been halted on the Michigan plant since Might. Manufacturing of the Blazer on the Ramos plant, which has been halted since Aug. 23, will no longer resume earlier than Oct. 15.
Ford mentioned subsequent week it is going to halt manufacturing at its Flat Rock Meeting Plant the place it builds the Mustang. Ford will halt manufacturing of the Transit subsequent week at its Kansas Metropolis Meeting Plant however it is going to proceed to construct F-150 vehicles.
